Leaders of Residents for a Better Bay Point traveled to the San Diego area recently to see a community much like we are planning. The City of Encinitas is just over 20 years old and has 5 separate communities within the city. As you enter Cardiff by the Sea, Old Encinitas, New Encinitas, Leucadia, or Olivenhain you see there own welcome signs for their community. The common thing among them is they are all noted as "A Community of the City of Encinitas" but they each have held onto their own identities.

Bay Point can do the same thing here using many of the same ideas. If the community of Bay Point joins with Residents for a Better Bay Point then we can become "Bay Point a community of the City of Pittsburg". This would mean decisions about our future would be made within the area and not in Martinez.

Bay Point can have a Bay Point Town Council that hears and decides on land use issues instead of passing them through Martinez. Bay Point can have increased law enforcement protection as well as increased Code Enforcement to help bring a better quality of life to those of us in Bay Point. 

Residents for a Better Bay Point want to see us better even better than we are today. We want to see safer streets, cleaner neighborhoods and streets as well as new businesses being brought to Bay Point instead of placed where Martinez thinks they should be. How cool would it be to have our own Starbucks, Coldstone Creamery, or major restaurant to entertain our family and friends.

Think about when the last time the county brought a major employer into town. Look at the major employers Pittsburg has added in the past 5 years. Why not have some of that success for our residents of Bay Point.
